“Oops I Did It Again!”

by Larkin Geyer / July 10, 2008

What a week it was in "Track Town USA"! The 2008 Olympic Trials in Eugene were nothing short of one of the most amazing running experiences of my life. In my career I feel like I've been blessed with the opportunity to experience winning on just about every level. I've won the NCAA, I've won Indoor and Outdoor U.S. Championship titles and I've even won World Championship and Olympic Gold Medals for the 4x400m relay. I can tell you without any reservations that being able to place third this year in the 400m after everything that I had to battle with my knee injury felt every bit as good as any of my career's greatest accomplishments.

Making the Olympic Team this year gives me an opportunity to reach a new career high, because while an Olympic gold medal for the 4x400m relay is nothing short of fantastic, to be able to win the gold in the individual 400m would be a dream come true. With each round of the 400m last week I learned what it really takes to be a great athlete. By combining faith in myself with faith in God, and never allowing myself to give up, I created an equation for success that really works great for me.

Now that the hard part is out of the way, I am back at practice gearing up for the Games, and before I hit the road to Beijing I'm looking forward to doing some of the little things like spending time with my 1-year-old God Daughter and visiting with my family and friends. I like to try to have a little fun before the stress of major competition starts to sets in.

I can't help but keep thinking that just a few weeks ago I was running 53.99, I guess adidas was right "Impossible Is Nothing"!

Giving all the glory to God,
