USA Gymnastics Womens Junior Olympic National Championships head to Mason, Ohio, May 19-20

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., May 14, 2007—Approximately 450 of the nation’s top women’s Level 10 artistic gymnasts will compete at the 2007 Women’s Junior Olympic National Championships, May 19-20, at the Wall 2 Wall Sports Complex in Mason, Ohio. The event features competition in regional team, all-around and individual events.

To qualify for the Women’s Junior Olympic National Championships, gymnasts competed in state and regional championships. The Women’s Junior Olympic National Championships are split into eight age divisions: Junior and Senior A, Junior and Senior B, Junior and Senior C and Junior and Senior D. The top four all-around finishers for each age division qualify for the Junior Olympic National Team.

The event opens May 19 at 11:30 a.m. with competition in the Junior and Senior A Divisions, followed by the Junior and Senior B Divisions at 5 p.m. Beginning at 10 a.m. on May 20 is the session for the Junior and Senior C Divisions, while competition in the Junior and Senior D Divisions begin at 3:30 p.m.

Tickets for adults are $15 per session, $25 per day and $40 for the weekend, while admission for children ages 3-9 and for non-participating gymnasts with their USA Gymnastics membership cards is $10 per session, $15 per day or $25 for the weekend. Admission is free for children ages 2 and younger.

The women’s divisions are determined by birth date: Senior D – born prior to or on March 31, 1989; Senior C – born from April 1-Oct. 20, 1989; Senior B – born from Oct. 21, 1989, to May 20, 1990; Senior A – born from May 21-Dec. 31, 1990; Junior D – born from Jan. 1-Aug. 16, 1991; Junior C – born from Aug. 17, 1991, to May 20, 1992; Junior B – born from May 21, 1992, to May 20, 1993; and Junior A – must be at least 9 years old and born on or after May 21, 1993.
